Perhaps in cases where there is a RADICALLY difference between the official English title and the literal translation, we should write something? (Such as the page you just made, Jen. I would NEVER think to look up 「ショー・アップ・ショー」as "The Beat of Rhapsody")

Oh no. At one point I wanted to do it, but I didn't and don't have the time right now. The sooner someone can add content, the better.

You doing it just reminded me of this question, which gets more interesting now that the 2000's and 1990's shows are almost complete and we're moving back in time. ^^

Agreed with Jen on all fronts. I often don't *like* the English they choose, but feel like we should use it when it's available.

And though reproducing the English language summaries is probably technically copyright infringement, I like having them on here so much that I kind of don't want to stop. :/ (And like Jen says, they don't seem too worried about them on Japanese sites...)

Technically, I suppose just copying the English text is copyright infringement? On the other hand, I've seen Japanese fan sites which have copied the Japanese summaries word-for-word, and they tend to be more paranoid than us, so perhaps it isn't an issue? Like Amanda, I tend to just fix up the grammar as I'm retyping things, if the English summary is available.

I'd like to bring this back to attention...

I've been battling with this issue internally for a while as I know Julie knows.

(Oh, and for that matter, another good example is "Utakata no Koi" whose official English title is "Mayerling")

Also, if the english summary is given, are we concerned about text copyrights and encourage to paraphrase or is it ok to copy the english text?
For a lot of the 60s/70s shows that I've made pages for, I've copied the English translation and edited it for grammar and - occasionally - name consistency. I'm not sure what our official stance is...
