Flügel

Germany in 1988, torn into East and West by the Cold War. Jonas Heinrich, in charge of public relations in the National People’s Army of East Germany after it became a socialist country, is appointed as the organizer of a concert featuring West German pop star Nadia Schneider. The wave of democratization sweeping across parts of Europe has also reached East Germany, prompting the government to plan a concert in East Berlin with the aim of alleviating public discontent. Jonas is constantly distracted by Nadia’s carefree words and actions, and finds himself starting arguments every time he meets her. However, in the instant when Jonas hears Nadia singing the song “Flügel” during rehearsal, he is deeply moved by her singing voice, evoking childhood days spent with his now estranged family. The two of them bond for the first time, brought together by the power of music. Helmut Wolff, a former classmate of Jonas from university and a member of the secret police, is tasked with monitoring the two of them.

This comedic and heartwarming musical tells the story of a man and a woman that grew up in a divided land, who clash due to their differing perspectives before gradually being drawn towards one another. Set against the tumultuous backdrop of Germany rushing headlong towards the fall of the Berlin Wall, it captures their journey with the magic of the stage.

A Kaleidoscope of Life

Tokyo… The city where lives flare up like fireflies, a city where millions of fates intertwine.

As the eras went by from Edo through Meiji, Taisho, Showa, Heisei, to Reiwa, Tokyo had changed its colors like a kaleidoscope. Modern meets retro in this revue that features episodes from the lives of Tokyoites from each time period.

Enjoy this heartfelt ode to humanity, performed by the theatrically gifted Moon Troupe led by top star Kanato Tsukishiro.

This revue will serve as director Yuka Kurita's debut in the Takarazuka Grand Theater.
