Arc-en-ciel
“Is Paris burning?” As the German occupying forces decided to withdraw from France, Hitler issued an order to level the capital. How did the Parisians, who had been resisting the Nazi German invaders, protect their city in this trying time? Taking a dancer who swore to keep the flame of the French revue alive as its main character, this musical is a dramatic description of the events that led to the liberation of Paris. Join us to witness the birth of a grand musical revue in the quintessential and inimitable style of Takarazuka.
Paris under Nazi German occupation. The Jewish staff members of the revue theater “Arc-en-ciel” fled on the eve of the German army's occupation of France. After their departure, Marcel, a popular dancer of the troupe, was entrusted with managing the revue company. Although he is in disagreement with the lead singer Catherine, he fights to protect the troupe from the depredations of the German army's censor, Friedrich. Marcel, who wants to keep the light of the revue aflame, secretly joins the resistance movement to recover Paris. He ends up sheltering Catherine, who has to go into hiding after rejecting the persistent advances of a German officer. The two find themselves drawn to one another and decide to fight together for their beloved homeland. When German defeat is imminent, Marcel and the others learn of plans to destroy Paris with bombs. They must rise and find a way to protect their city…
