- During World War II Matsuno Midori was living in Tokyo. In 1944, the bomb exploded in the air-raid shelter where Matsuno, her family and 18 people more were hiding, and Matsuno was the only one left alive. She was raised up by her father, who brought her to Takarazuka and was one of her biggest fans throughout her career.
- After retirement, she opened a dancing school in Itami, Hyogo, named Ishii Meri Buyou Kyoshitsu (Ishii Meri's Japanese Dance Lessons).
