Important Request

Well, it's important to me, anyway. ;)

Some of you have been very helpfully filling in various Takarasiennes' show histories. This is fabulous. The only problem is a sometimes-imperfect understanding of the workings of TakaWiki.

The correct method of creating a show history involves putting double apostrophes — '' — not quote marks — " — around the names of roles. They look very similar, but the difference is that double apostrophes make italics and quote marks do not. Because I'm a great big geek, seeing the name of a role with quote marks rather than italics makes me hurt inside. ;) I spent ages this evening fixing italics (in between creating new show pages and about a million backlinks), but I'm aware that I've barely scratched the surface.

Would you all please be careful of this in future? And, perhaps, if you know you've left a trail of quote marks, go back and fix them yourself? It would mean a great deal less aggravation in the long run — and in doing so you would earn my considerable gratitude!

Ah, sorry. As I was doing it I wondered if I should leave it for you. But in the end all the little question marks next to her name were too much for me. ;)

My Otome gives You a long "o". The not-longed-romanized-vowels is a pet peeve of mine, so I have to fix them when I see them. I think I caught most of your pages when I was creating the links on her page. :)

But that's what the big, bold, English text said, so I swallowed my compulsion to give the page a Japanese name on account of what people always actually call it, and... anyway. Finished it.

That was going to be one of my own jobs for today, filling in a few missing Flowers of that sort, but I'm glad someone who can actually translate her otome entries beat me to it. ;) The thing is, I would have called her Natsumi Yo, because that's the way she's always spelled in English cast lists and things and that's how her name sounds when she says it. But technically in Japanese it *does* have a "yo" and an "u". It just seems... wrong, though. And, of course, at this point every reference to her in the Flower pages I've put up lately says "Yo" not "You". Bah. Why can nothing ever be easy?

Nope, not a bit. I think I used some sort of IRC in the mid-90's. Once. With a great deal of hand-holding. ;)

I see you've been busy while we on the West Coast were a-snooze. Ooo! Asaki Yume Mishi page. *adores*

Heh heh. I was inspired by your work. :)

Yes, my scanner (currently in the depths of my closet) has similar software. I may give it a go, but I suspect it will have an even harder time than yours with the new programs, as it exceedingly old and curmudgeonly.

Prepare for another deluge. I'm still fixing/linking all the 2002 summaries. *rolling up sleeves*

I'm awash too now, thanks to your efforts this evening. >grins< And who knew data entry could be so... absorbing? And satisfying? And sparkly and flowery?

Thank you for the tip about the show summaries. As it happens, I've been using OCR software for some of mine — my software hates the small text in the newer programmes, but it does quite a good job on the larger text in the older ones. All that's needed is a bit of proofreading for play summaries, and a bit of annoying formatting for revue information.

You might want to look into obtaining something similar yourself for those older programmes. Or, if not, you could just scan the relevant pages and email them to me and I could run them through mine and send them back — keeping, of course, for my own nocturnal amusement, the Hanagumi ones. ;) All this, of course, after you post your translations!

Oh, gee, only those, huh? *grin*

Yes, so far I've just been posting the ones I've saved from Hankyu's site. They're in the file section of the Yahoo Group. (Some of the summaries in there were written by group members - I haven't been reposting those, as they belong to those people.) I haven't graduated yet to going through my programs. I'd like to do some of the *really* old ones I have, but the amount of text to re-enter is intimidating, so I'm putting it off (plus *someone* was quite insistent that I need to put my translations on the Wiki...)

I am impressed and awed by the work you've been putting into the Wiki the last few days. Every time I check my e-mail, I am a-wash in notifications of updates to the pages I created. ;)

Yes! The following actresses pages have wallpapers on:

Wao Youka
Sena Jun
Todoroki Yuu
Yamato Yuuga
Mizu Natsuki

If there are some one want the widscreen wallpaper(which I majorly create), I can also upload them.

Thanks!

I blush to say I have programmes only for the following Flower Troupe shows:

Chou-Saishi's Choice / The Flash!
The Emblem of Venetia / Junction 24
Spring Dance Festival / Spartacus two versions
Random Harvest / Fancy Touch
Melancholic Gigolo / La Nova!
Bay City Blues / It's A Love Story!
Apple Tree
Winter Storm: Death in St. Petersburg / Hyper Stage!
East of Eden / Dandyism!
Hana wa Hana Nari / Hyperion two versions
How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying
Paradise Lost / Southern Cross Revue
That's Revue!
Speakeasy / Sniper
Yoake no Jokyoku
Tango Argentino / The Revue '99
Asaki Yume Mishi / The Beauties
Ludwig II / Asian Sunrise
Michelangelo / Viva!
Kohakuiro no Ame ni Nurete / Cocktail! Takarazuka
Kohakuiro no Ame ni Nurete / Cocktail! All Japan Tour
Elisabeth
A Flute Named Wind / Revue Tanjo
A Tale of Two Cities (Bow Hall)
Endless Flight / Season of Angels / Applause Takarazuka!
La Esperanza / Takarazuka Maimu!
I GOT MUSIC ~ Haruno Sumire in Concert ~
Palermo Shines in the Setting Sun / Asian Winds

The rest are closed books to me — I mean the sort I cannot conveniently take down from the shelf and open in order to transfer their contents to the TakaWiki. :( Do I remember you mentioning that you'd saved all the show synopses for the last few years? If you feel like emailing the Flower ones across to me, I'll happily do those pages, and all the actress-page cross-referencing too. I look on myself as America's unofficial Prophet of Hanagumi. ;) Anything I can do to make beautiful pages for my beautiful Flowers, I shall do. I don't know what took me so long.

Looks beautiful, darling. :)

As for Flower Elisabeth's summary, I simply did nothing, as it had already been created. :)

You are welcome to do whichever Flower Troupe shows you want, BTW. If you want to do the newer ones, let me know and I shall cheerfully skip them. :)

Er... Should I be adding a link to each summary to all the actress pages as I complete them? *cold sweat* I'm not sure I'm up for that much cross referencing...

Right. I've consolidated our two "Michelangelo / Viva!" pages, renamed my other ones (somehow I got the idea into my head that one only added the troupe and date when there were multiple versions), and fixed what I believe to be every single backlink, including a few I missed the first time round in the show lists. If there's anything else I missed due to being half-asleep and three-quarters crazed, please just shout.

Aha. Obviously I should have spent more time on the show lists, which I only really went to to check that the pages I made would link properly there. Possibly because I was going nuts about italics and not thinking very clearly at four in the morning, I didn't notice they were listed alphabetically as well as by year — and because your "Michelangelo / Viva!" page wasn't linked to any of the actress pages I didn't realise that existed either. Oops.

And now I have about fifty things to fix. This Wiki business is awfully time-consuming. If you're working forwards from 2001, I'll concentrate on the early Flower shows, not the later ones, but — what did you do about the Flower "Elisabeth"? I made a page for that one on the very day the TakaWiki was first opened; there wasn't much to link it to in those days but I simply crowded it with information. Do we have two of those floating around too now?

And, yukimura_wao, did you want an editor to move your wallpapers? If so, just say where they all are. I've noticed a couple but I honestly don't remember their locations now...

Your Highness,

Just a question, when will you move the wallpaper to download section? (remember, just a question)

We all make mistakes at first, and I know I did the quote thing at least a few times, and probably didn't catch them all later. I'm also having to go back on my show summaries and fix the name order and links. This stuff just happens.

BTW, I had already made a page for "Michelangelo/Viva!" - check the show list for 2001 and the alphabetical listings. Also, check the rules for naming summary pages - you need to have the troupe and year in the name. :)

AND, don't forget to add your shows to the alphabetical lists when you create the pages. :)

Don't summaries take forever? I find it's 30-40 minutes from start to getting all my linking done. That's why I'm still on 2004 (working my way forward from 2001). :/
