A Japanese dance performance to celebrate Amatsu Otome's 50th anniversary with the Takarazuka Revue.

In the early Edo Period, from the Kanei Era through to the Genroku Era, this is a tale of how dance is passed from parent to child through three generations.

Snow Chapter

In the Tadasu no Mori grove in Kyoto. It is a snowy winter day.

Tokudaiji Harunaga has put forth his son Mitsuharu to dance before the emperor, and chooses his most talented female pupil Ayae to partner him.

However, Akishino trusts her skills, and asks for another chance to prove herself, but because she has trouble breathing, she is beaten.

The reason for this is that she is pregnant with Mitsuharu's child. Then Akishino stops dancing, and together with another pupil, Kuretake, she leaves the Tokudaiji household.

Moon Chapter

Twenty years have passed since then. The place is Makuzugahara in Kyoto, and the season is summer.

Akishino had given birth to Haruhisa, and raised him along with Kuretake. He has grown up well, created a female kabuki troupe with his wife Chigusa, and they have a child called Harukata.

By chance, Haruhisa hears that the Tokudaiji family is holding exams for new pupils, and he takes them along with his dance friend Hanahiko.

However, Hanahiko is brokenhearted when he learns he has failed the exams, and he nearly commits suicide before Haruhisa is able to stop him. Haruhisa is injured in the struggle, a deep wound that means he can never dance again.

Flower Chapter

Ten years later, it is spring and the cherry blossoms are in bloom on Mt. Kinugasa in Rakusai, Kyoto.

An elderly Mitsuharu is disapppointed with the inept dancing of his pupils, so when his granddaughter Wakakusa brings him to watch a youth dance, he is shocked to see without a doubt that the magnificent dance is from the Tokudaiji style, and he inquires into the young man's lineage.

This child is Akishino's grandchild Harukata, and so also Mitsuharu's cute grandchild.

Mitsuharu apologizes to the old woman Kuretake, who has accompanied Harukata, for all of the hardships they have endured. Watching Wakakusa innocently pull Harukata into a dance, he is overjoyed to see that the successor for the Tokudaiji family is now settled.
