A country surrounded by the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, where the roar of the tides echoes, where the goddess Freyja lives...
In the mid-18th century, the Kingdom of Denmark was ruled by the young King Christian VII. A time when people were enjoying a peaceful era due to the policy of neutrality after the Great Northern War. Johann Struense, a small-town doctor, is devoted to the Enlightenment and strives to reform the conservative medical field. Johann, who has ambitions to spread his new ideas and be active in the big world one day, approaches the king as their personal doctor, using his beauty, smarts, and elegant demeanor as his weapons.
What he saw, was King Christian VII, who was indulging in hedonism, court bureaucrats who left the incompetent king alone and took control of the country's affairs, Christian's stepmother Juliane Marie and her group, who were trying to put her son on the throne, and a group of people who were not used to being in a foreign country. Queen Mathilde is on bad terms with the king.
The royal court was full of "disease". Seeing it as a chance to take control of the nation's politics and reform society, Johann begins "treatment," but he gradually becomes attracted to the lonely queen.
Where will the two of them, and Denmark, go...?
