Robin the Hero
The place is 12th-century England. King Richard I leads his troops, the crusaders, in battle. The story begins as Robin, the only son of Lord Locksley of Nottingham, learns that his father, a crusader, has been executed for communicating with enemy forces. Robin is now the son of a known criminal, and finds himself in prison on false charges. Worst of all, he is separated from Marian, his beloved and a woman of noble blood.
Robin is left in despair until a knight named Will appears to tell him about his father’s last hours. Far from committing treason, Lord Locksley died protecting his king, who had been driven into a lethal trap by Guy, the king’s own aide-de-camp. Guy is being used by Kirk, the governor of Nottingham, to put Prince John, the king’s younger brother, on the throne while the king is away at war. After learning the truth of his father’s death, Robin vows to seek vengeance and manages to escape from prison.
Robin and Will arrive at Sherwood Forest where they meet Little John, the leader of a group of thieves. The two learn that the outlaws banded together to bring down the Nottingham governor, who is using his powers to torment the populace. Once Robin and Will learn the thieves are working for good, they quickly decide to join forces. Because Robin dons a hood to hide his face when robbing from the wicked rich to give to the poor, “hood” is added to Robin’s name, and he becomes a hero of the masses.
Robin, bearing the bow left to him by his father, and his band of thieves set out to defeat their powerful adversary. Will he be able to bring down his father’s enemy and win back Marian? Thus begins Robin’s crusade.
