Rhapsody -The Story of Hungary-
A love story which took place in 1930 Budapest, the capital of Hungary. A balmy spring day.
In an amusement park, Frentz, a lieutenant of the Imperial Guards, met and fell in love with Emilia, a seamstress at a military uniform factory. Knowing that Frentz, not having his own horse, was constantly humiliated by the others in his regiment, Emilia made up her mind that, even though she was poor herself, she would give Frentz a love gift of a horse
However, Sophy, a daughter of the regimental commander, was furiously jealous over the intimate relations between Frentz and Emilia. She contrived a sinister scheme with the intention of separating the two lovers. She successfully convince her father to dispatch Frentz to Vienna, Austria as a military attache to the Embassy. Contrary to her plan, this cunning countermeasure taken by Sophy only served to tighten the bond of love between Frentz and Emilia. As jealous as she was, Sophy had to give up her affection towards Frentz.
Since then, two long years slipped away lie a dream and Frenz returned to Budapest in his longing desire to meet Emilia. But alas! As the result of the complications of love and her great worries, Emilia fell ill. When Frentz returned to Budapest, Emila had left her old lodging and her whereabouts were unknown.
On a cold winer day, a young girl was fond dead on a street by the banks of the Danube River. By the side of the corpse, there was a magnificent horse, on the neck of which a slip of paper had been tied. On the slip of paper was written: "This horse is presented to Lieuenant Frentz."
