Pagad
“Pagad” refers to the first card of the Tarot deck's major arcana, known as “The Magician.”
The musical is set in Southern France in the eighteenth century. Joseph, a young Romani man, sets out to seek revenge against the Viscount de Montaigne, who executed his mother as a witch for her ability to foresee people’s futures. Joseph engages in a high-stakes plot against the viscount, using the touch of supernatural power he inherited from his mother. In him, this power manifests as the ability to perform hypnotherapy, as advocated by Dr. Mesmer in Vienna at the time.
Joseph, proclaiming himself “Count Cagliostro,” travels and gains fame across Europe by healing nobles suffering from incurable diseases. Once again in Southern France, he is discreetly requested by a certain noble to make a house call. It is none other than his archenemy, the Viscount de Montaigne. And the patient he is introduced to is a stunning young lady who resembles Marie Antoinette herself...
A dramatic tale based on the film adaptation of the picaresque novel by Alexandre Dumas père, this musical depicts the love and revenge of Count Cagliostro, who was renowned as an extraordinary magician.
