The story takes place in the Kanda district of XIX century Edo. Sentarou and Unokichi are firemen from rival groups, though off work they are best pals.
Sentarou had been orphaned by the big fire long ago, and was brought up by the Yo firemen group. He is very beautiful and kind-hearted, and all the district girls are in love with him, including courtesan Koine, samurai's daughter Yae and Ichi, daughter of Ka group chief. While the chief is ill, she takes his duties,
The Iseya paper shop is burnt down, and the only survivor is the girl, Chiyo, Sentarou feels sorry for her, as he expirienced the same tragedy in his past. He takes the girl as his ward, Due to terrible shock, Chiyo became mute.
The policeman Shimaoka investigated the case and discovered that Iseya shop was arsoned to cover the murder of the owner and his family. Now Chiyo, who lives with Unokichi's lover Mitsu, is in danger.
Soon after Mitsu's house (Izumiya dry goods shop) is also arsoned and Chiyo is attacked,

Scene 1: The Grand Opening
The curtain rises on a setting in which a pyramid can be seen through a smoky haze. After brilliant light and rock music fill the stage, the hero appears. The hero and others bring the stage alive with song and dance.

Scene 2: The Class
In the music room of a high school, a very proper, straight-laced songmistress leads the class in singing the lesson-song of the day, "Wild Rose". Suddenly a runaway rider barges into the class and shouts, "Sing hard rock, not classical music!" Following the rider`s lead, the high school students join him in a frenzy of rock dancing and singing. When the bell signals the end of the class the students stop singing and dancing and resume their normal routine as if nothing extraordinary had ever happened.

On a twilight beach, a boy is throwing stones to the sea and suddenly eh finds a girl standing beside him. They spend the twilight of the evening elusively. As the stars come out and the sea roars, they say goodbye.

Scene 4: Caribbean Wind
On a Caribbean beach a dandy appears and sings of his carefree life. Lovely young beach maidens approach the dandy and tempt him with their fruits. When other young men appear on the beach however, the maidans retreat. Will the dandy ever catch his love?

Scene 5: Ondine
A shining knight named Hans leads his men into a foggy, ice covered forest inhabited by Nymphs. Little does Hans know that the Nymphs possess mysterious, magical powers. He meets the enchantingly beautiful and charming Ondine and becomes infatuated with her. She leads him to the castle. Hans and his men begin to fall under the spell of the Nymphs. Ondine sees Hans and his men becoming powerless so she takes his sword and slays Penelope. Because of this, Hans and his men are able to escape but Ondine becomes locked in the cold icy world.
