The Samurai's Poem in the Rumbling of the Sea
A tale of the final stop of Hasekura Tsunenaga's embassy to Rome. His ship reached Manila in 1618. There the governor-general asked for the loan of his ship for a year as protection against attacks by the British and the Dutch. After more than five years travel, Hasekura's retainers were not pleased with the idea. However, the governor-general’s sister Juline was in love with Hayase Tokurou...
